Greetings from The Housing Spring co. Located at 800 N spring street , Winston Salem NC. Founded January 2024 ,out of necessity by its eight tenants who seek to obtain and maintain there current residence. Thirty years ago the city of Winston Salem sold ESR this location for one dollar. With the aim of sustaining affordable housing and helping citizens of Winston to experience self reliance! With minimal attention and few improvements this location has suffered over the years ! And it is becoming more noticeable as you look at the neighborhood around us. As residents we have experienced months with no sanitation. Months with no lawn care. And Extremely long wait time for maintenance request! A complaint was filed with ESR by several residents and even with the city. Instead of ESR honoring its promises of improvements to it residents! It sold out location back to the city for a $600,000 dollar profit. Out raged by not only being sold out ! But not knowing what predicament most residents would be in we protested the sell of our building and demanded to be held by the city to work with the residents. Unfortunately they decided to sell. Witch has had the residence being managed by off hand management! Meaning it still takes a long time to get maintenance requests! Sanitation is still a problem and we cattle waiting to line someone els pocket! Who is not apart of this community!( definition: self reliant)on one's own powers and resources rather than those of others. As residents of this location we want to do just that! The Housing spring Co was created by our powers and resources and we want the city to be apart of that! By selling directly to the residents the city will be honoring the goal it set out to do thirty years ago ! Make housing affordable and its citizens self reliant.Thank you
